Mud pulsers

Six types — rotary valve, positive pulse, piston, oil-bag, bagless and shear valve — covering tools from different makers and generations.

Mud turbine generator

150 W rated output, 30–36 VDC adjustable, 1,800–5,000 RPM, rated to 20,000 psi, continuous service life > 450 hours.

Directional probe

48 mm and 42 mm outside diameters, three-axis fluxgate plus three-axis quartz accelerometers, calibrated across the full temperature range with compensation coefficients written to each individual probe.

Natural gamma module

NaI scintillation crystal with photomultiplier tube, three sensor sizes, crystals held in our own stock.

Azimuthal gamma module

A shielded window gives the measurement its directionality, so lithology above and below the bit can be told apart for geosteering.

Resistivity

Supplied mainly as parts and system upgrades, covering mechanical and electronic components for both collar-type and electromagnetic wave resistivity.

At-bit measurement

The measurement point moves up close to the bit; the upper and lower subs talk to each other by contactless electromagnetic coupling.

Rotary steerable (RSS)

Push-the-bit design, covering four subsystems: steering actuation, hydraulic drive, measurement and control, and downlink communication.

Surface system unit

A universal surface unit that also works with third-party MWD tools. Acquisition controller, cabinet power distribution, driller's display, depth and hookload, pressure acquisition, data processing host and peripherals.

About the surface system

The surface unit is a universal system and can be configured to work with third-party MWD tools. To interface it we need four things from the tool supplier: pulse encoding and frame format, the pressure signal interface definition, the depth and hookload interfaces, and the data output requirements.
